Crayon Shin-chan (クレヨンしんちゃん Kureyon Shinchan), internationally known as Shinchan, is a Japanese manga (comic) and anime (animated television series) written and illustrated by Yoshito Usui. The original comic story was first published in the magazine Weekly Manga Action on 11 April 1990. The series follows the adventures of a five-year old boy named Shinnosuke Nohara known for his famous antics like the naked butt dance and the mister elephant dance. He lives with his parents, his dog, his little sister and his friends in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.
The franchise Crayon Shinchan is targeted at all audiences. The average age rating is all ages with additional notes including animated nudity, animated violence and mature language. The content of the series is not too shocking for children making it possible for children of all ages to watch the series. Shinchan helps children build self esteem making them more secure about their body of which the core target audience is ages nine to twelve. The series can contain educational subjects like genitals, infatuation and limits while being mostly entertainment without putting too much pressure on the education. Please keep the conversations and content within this wiki suitable for all ages. The content on the wiki is mainly based on the original Japanese version, which usually also applies to international translations. The content added in the 2006-2011 Funimation remake dub is meant for for adult audiences which means it can be written on the page of the Funimation dub, please do not add these subjects on other pages.
